Internal renovation of the main school building including new admin area, new staff room, new principal and vice principal offices and new disabled access ramps and lifts to ensure all students can access all of the school facilities.

Location: Eltham:
Type: Commercial
Task: Internal renovation of the main school building including new admin area, new staff room, new principal and vice principal offices and new disabled access ramps and lifts to ensure all students can access all of the school facilities.

Overview: The client was an architecture firm who obtained our clients from another architect in our network that we had previously worked with and they were only too happy to recommend our services. Conrad Constructions was engaged by this architecture firm to bring their designs to life. We were able to complete the internal renovation of the main school building. This provided the school with a better administration area, a new staff room and new offices for the Principal and Vice Principal. We were also able to facilitate the construction of new disabled access ramps and lifts. This ensured that all students had access to all school facilities easily. Difficulties Faced: There were a few challenges faced by Conrad Constructions when completing this project. The site was a very steep block and required a lot of manual labour to complete the works as required. The nature of the block meant there were additional constraints faced. We had a very limited amount of space to work in which did make things difficult at times. Solution: Health and safety was a priority as we were building on a school property and the property had its own challenges as mentioned above. By ensuring open and regular communication with the school, with clear signage across all construction sites we were able to ensure everyone’s health and safety on site – whilst also ensuring that any disruptions were kept to a minimum. The end We provided a lift and a full timber ramp and deck so any disabled students could now access all parts of the school. Previously the school could not accommodate disabled students. Result: The site was in need of desperate renovation. It was a growing school that needed more space for staff and disabled access for staff and students. The client was incredibly satisfied with the overall results. We were able to bring the architect’s vision to life. The architect was pleased with the result and we look forward to collaborating again on future projects.
