Overview: The client was an architecture firm who we had been engaged by in the past. They were confident that presenting their designs with us as their construction company would help them win the project. Of course they were successful. Conrad Constructions was engaged by this architecture firm to bring their designs to life. We were able to complete the internal renovation of the main school building and provide the school with 4 refurbished classrooms and 2 specialised learning areas These new designs were designed to withstand the daily usage and wear and tear of young children whilst also containing many smart features that helped with the facilitation of learning Difficulties Faced: There were a few challenges faced by Conrad Constructions when completing this project. This construction project involved the refurbishment of a 60 year old building. The age of the building meant there were structural issues that required ongoing work and repair during the project. Solution: Health and safety was a priority as we were building on a school property and the property had its own challenges as mentioned above. By ensuring open and regular communication with the school, with clear signage across all construction sites we were able to ensure everyone’s health and safety on site – whilst also ensuring that any disruptions were kept to a minimum. The end result We were able to provide the client with a start of the art kid friendly learning spaces.The kids were able to explore their creativity writing on the walls, as well as making use of smart TV’s to help facilitate their learning. We installed smart lighting features that allow the school to adjust lighting levels to suit different times of the year. Result: The site was in need of desperate renovation. The building was tired. They needed to make better use of space and rejuvenate the classrooms to excite their students and engage them with ongoing learning. The client was incredibly satisfied with the overall results. We were able to bring the architect’s vision to life. The architect was pleased with the result and we look forward to collaborating again on future projects.
