Conrad Construction were tasked with transforming a run down office space into a modern beauty/medical suite for client Peninsula Aesthetics.

Location: Mount Eliza

Type: Commercial

Task: To renovate an old architects office into a new beauty/medical suite for Peninsula Aesthetics.

Overview: We were approached by cosmetic injector and beauty specialist Peninsula Aesthetics, to renovate an old office space in Mount Eliza. Previously the space had been used by an architecture firm, but the new lease holder required a medical/beauty suite that matched their branding and created a relaxed, yet stylish feel. The transformation would include turning a one room, run down office space into a refreshed reception, medical room and utility closet. The old office was originally finished in face brickwork with no rooms. Conrad Construction worked closely with Peninsula Aesthetics to understand the requirements and planed to transform this space as follows: Plaster all the brick walls to cover the brickwork and paint them a vivid white to enhance light levels and give the space a fresh look and feel. Add in new walls and doors to separate the space as required and create a medical room, reception and utility closet. Install new timber flooring to cover the cold concrete floors and give the space a modern and clean feel. Install brand new joinery for storage space that was a necessity for storing products and tools. Install a new feature timber lined wall in the reception space to create an appealing aesthetic for patients when they enter the space. Install new downlights and pendant lights throughout and provide additional power points as required by the client. Install new signage that highlighted the Peninsula Aesthetics brand and met the brief. Install new compliant plumbing and hot water for ease of access to necessary amenities for Peninsula Aesthetics staff and clients. Difficulties Faced: The difficulties that Conrad Construction faced with this project came with the tight time frame that was required for completion. The space had to be completed in just two and a half weeks to ensure that Peninsula Aesthetics was able to use the space to its full capacity when the lease commenced. This would mean that all trades would need to be managed so all work was completed in the required sequence to finish the project on time. This was made more difficult by material shortages and COVID-19 related illness. These factors saw some trades out of action whilst completing their seven day isolation and some preferred materials hard to source. Solution: Through expert project management and clear communication, Conrad Construction were able to successfully complete this project for Peninsula Aesthetics. All tradesmen were successfully managed and given a timeframe to complete their required works, so that the necessary work was completed successfully and on time. Materials were sourced from local suppliers where possible and through clear communication with the client, Conrad Construction were able to source appropriate alternatives where originally requested materials were not available within the time frame. Result The final result saw the project successfully completed within the two and a half week timeframe and Peninsula Aesthetics was able to move in and commence operations as planned. The plaster over the old brick walls transformed the space from a dark room into a light and bright space that was appealing to the client and their customers alike. The painted pine lining boards behind the reception desk created a modern and eye-catching V pattern, while the new overlay timber flooring gave the space a new life creating a sleek and welcoming beauty venue. Peninsula Aesthetics was extremely happy with the quality of work and project management skills that Conrad Construction exhibited to deliver a result, on time and on budget that exceeded their expectations. Peninsula Aesthetics would happily use Conrad Construction again for future projects and would highly recommend them to anyone about to undergo a commercial build or renovation.
